Artnet_ As is its annual practice, Pantone has picked its color of the year for 2024—one intended to give you the warm fuzzies.

Pantone 13-1023 Peach Fuzz is a pinkish-orange hue that conjures feelings of tenderness and compassion, while conveying a sense of caring and community. At the same time, noted the color giant, the shade evokes poetic and romantic tones as much as a modern sensibility.

“Drawing comfort from Pantone 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, we can find peace from within, impacting our well-being,” said the Pantone Color Institute’s executive director Leatrice Eiseman in a statement. “An idea as much as a feeling, Pantone 13-1023 Peach Fuzz awakens our senses to the comforting presence of tactility and cocooned warmth.”

The company’s Color of the Year, as always, was selected by experts at the Pantone Color Institute, who scoured trends across the art, design, entertainment, fashion, technology, sports, and travel spaces.

“Anything and everything taking place in our culture during the year can influence our Pantone Color of the Year selections,” said Laurie Pressman, the institute’s vice president, in a blog post, “with each source carrying a different weight from year to year depending on what’s taking place in our culture at that time.”

The global mood and conversation, she added, play key roles in the institute’s selection: “We discuss our color psychology and color trend research as we look to connect the mood of the global zeitgeist with the corresponding color family.”

On the occasion of the hue’s unveiling, Pantone has teamed up with a clutch of brands and creators, producing objects bearing the peachy pigment.

Motorola is offering its Edge and Razr smartphones in peach fuzz, just as interior design retailers Ultrafabrics and Ruggable have launched ranges of similarly tinted products. Meanwhile, textile designer Tsia Carson has reworked her “Pareo” print in peach and emoji designer Yiying Lu has reimagined her dumpling, peacock, and boba tea glyphs in the sandy shade.

The color, said Lu, “inspired me to create art that embraces and nurtures my own femininity, realizing and integrating the power within softness, the strength through tenderness, confidence within quietness.”

Peach Fuzz is Pantone’s 25th Color of the Year, and follows such tones as 2023’s Viva Magenta—a bold red meant to echo the boundless self-expression of the virtual world—and 2022’s Very Peri—a juicy lilac that conveys confidence and curiosity.
